Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition - Video Production, Medical Training Videos
The Problem
CCDC wished to offer online classes through which participants could receive training and subsequently certification for working with people with disabilities, whereas previously they were only able to provide in-person training. This was not an option during COVID-19. Kokopelli was tasked with creating four training videos as part of the two-part, two-module program, which medical practitioners were required to complete in preparation of a quiz based on information presented.
The Solution
We created four educational/training videos, capturing a plethora of stories to help go with the lessons provided in the training by first learning about cultural competency with disabilities and then filming nine meaningful interviews with doctors, therapists, patients, and family members to gather the most inclusive information possible.
The Result
Not only is CCDC now more capable to better prepare medical professionals to adequately provide patients with disabilities the care they deserve, they can reach a larger geographic audience by providing flexibility, convenience, and an affordable option to take the classes.
The level of communication was fantastic. [Kokopelli] got back to us quickly, they communicated well, they were really responsive. We really couldn’t be happier.

Video Shoot
The Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition (CCDC) wished to offer online classes to help healthcare workers better understand and care for patients with disabilities.
Using their decades of advocacy experience, they approached Kokopelli to help create four training videos as part of the two-part, two-module program, which medical practitioners looking to work with people with disabilities were required to complete in preparation of a quiz based on the information presented.
To ensure that the planned content accurately reflected best practices, Kokopelli began this project by doing research and learning about the CCDC. We worked with subject matter experts at CCDC who taught us about the organization, the cultural competency with disabilities, explained the training material, and identified their target audience.
We then filmed nine meaningful interviews with doctors, therapists, patients, and family members to gather the most inclusive information possible. The videos provide real-life examples and data on older people with disabilities to help go with the lessons provided in the training.
Interview Strategy
Kokopelli conducted an initial meeting with CCDC to gather basic information and ensure all questions to be asked have a direction and meaning.
We worked closely with CCDC to develop an outline for each video before conducting interviews with doctors, patients, and family members to build out these videos. Our team conducted each interview in a professional, kind, and respectful way—creating an atmosphere where interviewees were comfortable on-camera. We offered support as needed to put interviewees at ease and get the best results possible.
Amid a pandemic, Kokopelli took extra care and planning to safely interview patients and providers and to compile thorough, compelling, and empathetic videos that CCDC now uses to improve the lives of vulnerable people.
Through these videos, not only is CCDC now better able to prepare medical professionals to assist patients with disabilities, but they can also reach a larger geographic audience by providing a more convenient and affordable option to take the classes.

Post-Production & Editing
The final quality of the CCDC videos was fantastic, achieved as a result of filming fantastic shots and choosing interesting backgrounds, and going the extra mile to make even more subdued office settings interesting to enhance the story.
With quality raw footage to work from, our team reviewed the film, piecing it together and pairing it with audio and visual effects. Sound quality was checked to ensure the interviews were crisp and clear and music was chosen with the intent of capturing and communicating the CCDC brand in line with the subject being discussed.
Using custom graphics and graphic effects, we created compelling intros to mark the beginning of the videos, smooth transitions throughout to keep a natural flow, and concise outros that provided the CCDC’s audience with a clear call to action.
